DESIGNER

I see design as a means to solving a visual puzzle. As a designer I am given a set of instructions and pieces (images, artwork, etc.) in order to help me solve the task. The challenge is how best to construct my design with the information presented to me, and in a way that will not only visually stimulate but also visually translate to the viewer. A design is most effectively created when there is clear direction. The easiest puzzles to solve are often the ones with simplest directions. The puzzle may itself look very complicated and intricate when completed, but how it was created should not have to be a reflection of that. Logic and reasoning are an intregal part of my methods, and directly infulence my style and approach.

ARTIST

I see art as the infinite puzzle. As an artist I am given an empty canvas, with no instructions or pieces; I must create my own puzzle. My instructions are my purpose. The purpose of my work is to create strong graphic images that challenge the viewer's imagination and perception of reality. Music, Energy, Architecture, and Abstract forms are the inspirations for my creations, they are pieces to my puzzle. Extracting shapes from complex objects, taking obscure photos of everyday objects, and collecting an ecclectic array of stimuli allow me build the pieces and help outline my instructions. Approaching my work in this ways allows me to be tested and challenged to further progress my own abilities.

A puzzle is a problem or enigma that tests the ingenuity of the solver.
